Christmas Toy Support

Many families raising disabled children struggle financially.

“ Disabled children and their families are worse off financially and have markedly poorer standards of living then those families who do not live with disability. Expenditure is higher but opportunities for earning through paid employment are reduced, particularly for Mothers. Many families are in debt and live in unsuitable housing”. - Disabled children second edition a legal handbook, Steve Broach, Luke Clements and Janet Reed.

The founders of the charity having their own personal experience of the difficulties faced decided to help other families in the best way they can, especially at times when there is an expectation placed on families which can cause distress and unhappiness for them.

Some religions celebrate Christmas time, or present giving to children in the Month of December. The pressure of needing to buy children gifts, especially these days when the average price of a good toy is around £12, can be an impossible task for families.

Over the past 4 year the charity has been providing those families most in need with brand new toys for their children at Christmas time. Not only to children with disabilities but their siblings too as they so often have to sacrifice parts of their lives due to the family pressures.

If you are a family who may need support at Christmas time and would like to receive gifts please do take a look at our website page where you can find more information and self refer : https://www.zebrascacharity.org.uk/seasonal-support

Delivery of gifts begins October through to December each year.
